little things, Big Effect

For every moment we live our lives, we live it in search for a purpose, a meaning, a big picture. Life seems pointless when we drift and live in oblivion, thus we chase goals after goals, in search for a reason to live on. The big picture is the driving force that get us on our feet in living, turning vision into action; we concentrate on what we aimed for and remain unsatisfied until we achieved what we desired, but only to be a beginning point for a new aim or goal and a whole new chase. Satisfaction is therefore mostly temporary and short-life as a new day bring about new desires. Nothing wrong with that, its only natural for everyone to feel as such.

But too often do we not realized, that we are affected not by big things only in our life. In the quest for living life, we often miss out small things in out life. They may seem and deem negligible but we have always underestimate the effect and impact it bring about. It may be a memory of the past, a nostalgia, a little act of kindness or whatever that changes our perceptions on things.

Back to reality, i currently stand too frequently at many crossroads and decisions are hard to come by. My mood and attitude fluctuates most of the time and it makes making decision even harder. To top that, most of my friends are at crossroads too and the toxic environment doesn't seems to help either. Changes are hard to endure.

But then when i was out for lunch and grocery shopping today, something struck me unexpected and which is the reason why i posted this on my blog apart from the reason that i wanted to update my blog. Over the radio in the supermarket was playing a Christmas song that was familiar to my ear. And it automatically carves a smile on my face. A simple song that lightens my mood and bring about sweet memories in my mind. I had always loved Christmas. It wasn't the salesgirl, not the sales and neither the company i had for the day that cheers me up but the little song playing over the radio that melts my heart without even trying.

Such is the power of small things. It may seems unimportant but at times, it affects us largely and and made us decide differently than what was intended initially. Little things in our lives collectively affect us on how we feel each day and so its best to keep in mind, little things we do for others may lit up their very day.    :)
